Nick Hutchins

Nick Hutchins signed with Willis Sports Agents in November of 2017. He was drafted in the 2017 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals in the 27th round and currently plays in the Royals’ farm system.

A 22-year old native of Franklin, Tennessee, Hutchins was a four-year starter at Franklin High School. During his senior year, he was declared the 11-AAA Player of the Year after he batted .467 with 7 home runs and 42 RBI's. He was named to the All-Region team and earned Second Team All-State honors. Hutchins played collegiate baseball at Southern Illinois University and claimed a spot on the Johnny Bench Award watch list, which is the award given to the top collegiate catcher.

Hutchins' draft stock rose during the summer of 2016 while he played for the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods League, where he earned the Big Stick Award for having the highest batting average (.325) among catchers in the Northwoods League and was a Northwoods League All-Star. After the draft, he started in the Rookie League with the Burlington Royals, where he hit .313 and had an OPS of .968. He was then called up to Class A-Advanced Wilmington before ending the season with Single-A Lexington.
