Understanding How Arbitration Works
Arbitration is an alternative to court, where people may resolve their legal issues in a less formal setting. Rather than a jury and judge, arbitration will have a person or panel to listen to all sides of the issue, reviewing evidence, and reaching a decision. Both parties will typically have individual attorneys to represent their best interests before the panel or single evaluator in arbitration.
Types of Arbitration
Depending on the type of arbitration, the decision can be binding, meaning it must be followed once decided, or non-binding. In a non-binding arbitration, both parties must accept the decision, and move forward from there to see the pronouncement implemented.
